Within my first week of ISM through researching quotes and creating my mission statement I realized the importance of my values and what motivates me to work. Also, I established my specific goals for the year. Although developing my mission statement was easy since I know what goals I want to achieve, finding a motivating quote was fairly difficult. There were quite a few quotes that spoke to me; however, I chose the Maya Angelou quote because it was not only motivational but relatable. The quote aligns with my values and goals in life for I wish to live happily and passionately.
Although I finished my mission statement and quote, I had planned to also start researching further into my topic. I did not complete this goal because I have not quite learned how to manage my time effectively. During class, I was not as focused as I should have been, and at home, I often get distracted by other less important things. I need to learn how to ignore distractions and focus solely on the task at hand because doing so will help me finish my tasks efficiently allowing more time to get ahead on other tasks or relax.
This first week was not as productive as I had hoped and therefore this upcoming week I need to work twice as hard to make up for lost progress and keep myself from getting behind. I plan to complete most of my research on my topic that will help me finish my assessment by Wednesday so that I can turn in my first assessment on time or hopefully early. I also plan to buy all the necessary supplies and attire for ISM in order to establish my brand. As well as those two things, I will need to create an outline for my introductory speech by Tuesday. As long as I remember to focus and manage my time, these goals should be feasible.
