9/3 - 9/9

Week three of Independent Study and Mentorship ran a little smoother than previous weeks; however, there were still bumps in the road. The research progressed faster than the week before because finding articles was much easier and writing the assessment was easier since the information was a lot more detailed and beneficial to what is needed to move forward. This week was aimed at completing research assessment two over congenital heart disease and finding nurse practitioners to interview. As mentioned before, the assessment was not as difficult but finding nurse practitioners was quite hard.

Nurse practitioners are not as prestigious as doctors, therefore they are typically not listed on hospital websites. Also, there are only a few hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that have congenital heart surgery units. Due to these conditions, it took a lot longer than expected to find nurse practitioners but eventually it worked out.

The biggest issue was finishing the assessment on time. The research was completed ahead of time but it took longer to actually complete the assessment. In the end, it was finished on time but completing it led to a lot of stress. The annotated article was forgotten due to the high-stress situation and lack of time management. Although work ethic was a lot higher this week the poor time management caused most of the problems.

Next week the main focuses are on researching the types of congenital heart diseases, creating a professional resume and high-quality interview questions without creating a lot of stress. In order to complete these goals, there needs to be a stronger organization of time and a higher work ethic overall. With these ideas in mind, next week should progress smoother.
