Weekly Report 7: Connection

This past week of ISM was by far the most rewarding. Business symposium was extremely helpful in learning how to interact with professionals and learning more about ISM from past or current ISM students. The peer networking portion was also very helpful, for it provided opportunity to meet and connect with students and learn about the wide variety of topics that people chose to study this year.

As well as business symposium, another assessment and the topic proposal were due. While the topic proposal was easy due to its personalized nature, the assessment was a little more difficult. The main difficulty was deciding on a topic to research; however, branching my research off into a different direction than before was very beneficial. Due to how busy the week was, work ethic was not high until the very last minute. This was due to a lack of time management considering a lot of focus went into business symposium and making up missed classwork. In the future, starting research ahead of time will be more beneficial.

As for this week’s goals, the main priority is on cold calls. Since business symposium has passed and real world experience has been gained, cold calls can be made with more confidence. While making calls and conducting further research, the original work also needs to be kept in mind. Continuing with the goals made last week, scheduling interviews is at the top of the list. Also, because this week will be very busy, time needs to be managed effectively to complete goals without stress.
